CA Attorney General Jerry Brown: Environmental Laws Violated by Approving LNG Contracts

April 4th, 2008

RACE has filed suit in the California Supreme Court which argues that when the California Public Utilities Commission voted to approve LNG contracts in 2004, it violated the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). We argued that because the CPUC's decision would have environmental impacts, especially as some LNG has a high carbon content (or high Wobbe index), it should have undergone an environmental review. Our arguments have been also taken up by the South Coast Air Quality Management District and the City of San Diego.

On April 2, 2008, the Attorney General of California, Jerry Brown, filed an "amicus" which supports our argument. A PDF of AG Brown's brief can be downloaded by clicking below.
